January has been busy!

Hi everyone!

I thought I should pop in and give a little stitching update for January.  I've been a busy little stitcher, and the "finish" bug has hit me pretty hard. Give me a goal and I run with it, and Wipocalypse 2018 has been no exception. I've completed two projects on my Focus to Finish list and I'm over the moon excited about it!

My first finish of 2018 was "Give Thanks" by My Big Toe Designs. I first saw this design when another Flosstuber showed it one of her videos. I thought it was pretty, but honestly didn't give it much thought after that. However, I found the magazine chart in my awesome $1.99 Goodwill binder and decided that I  MUST stitch it. I converted the colors to be a more autumnal piece. I could not be happier with the result!

Give Thanks by My Big Toe Designs
Started: 10/31/17
Finished: 1/19/18
Threads: The Gentle Art - Autumn Leaves, Juniper and Geranium
Fabric: 32ct jobelan in Sagebrush from Under The Sea Fabrics

After the rush of a big finish, I wanted to pick up something else I could easily finish.  This freebie from Plum Street Samplers fit the bill, which was started in October 2017 for TracyP's birthday SAL.  I stitched on this for two days while I was glued to my computer watching the final days of the sentencing of local disgraced sports/Olympic physician. I can't even bring myself to type his name, so I won't.  Lots of tears fell on this piece, but that's a story for another day.  This happy finish came together just as the judge read her verdict.

Brew HaHa (freebie) from Plum Street Samplers
Started: October 19, 2017
Finished: January 24, 2018
Threads: various Carrie's Creation and House of Embroidery cottons
Fabric: 18 or 22ct Aida I dyed with blueberries

I have decided to start a new ornament/small on the 18th of every month for Stitch Maynia's Year of Starts.  I've had my eye on Penny Angel from The Primitive Needle for a couple years. Today I'm almost finished with it, but I'll save the most recent picture for another day. (I'm a tease...)

Penny Angel by The Primitive Needle (Just Cross Stitch Ornaments 2009)
Started: January 19, 2018
Threads: Weeks Dye Works Cocoa Bean, Weeks Dye Works Schneckley, The Gentle Art Straw Bonnett and Kreinik Gold something or other.
Fabric: Ummmm... linen. Coffee/tea dyed by me. 28 or 32ct. No clue.

I picked up another Wipocalypse 2018 piece.  This project LITERALLY had about 20 stitches from the 2016 Maynia start I used it for.  And I LITERALLY had to pick out 10 of those stitches because they were missplaced by one thread.  Don't you hate that?!  I'm going to have to sub out some colors for this one because the "kit" I purchased wasn't a true kit and the embellishment pack from Just Nan was not included. I'm considering it a mission from the Cross Stitch Gods and Goddesses.  I hope I'm rewarded appropriately.

Peacock Majesty by Just Nan (now OOP, I think)
Started: May 11, 2016
Threads:  Threads that came with the "kit" that are sorta close, one Dinky Dyes Oops Pack color, a Kreinik. Eh. Weird stuff.
Fabric: 28ct linen from Zweigart in dark teal green

That's it for now!  I'll show these again in my upcoming Flosstube update next week.

Stay Stitchy, everyone! Happy Weekend!

  2. Congrats on our finishes!! Send some of the determination my way, I sure could use a boost in my stitching mojo. I did the Peacock Majesty by JN years ago, it was a gift from my parents for either my birthday or maybe it was Christmas. I loved working on it and it got me hooked doing band samplers. Enjoy it.

  6. Great progress! Congrats on your finishes and I love your autumnal conversion. I’m with you on the gym thing, sadly I must say it is horrifying but not surprising. Anyway... gorgeus colors in that band sampler.
